Petanque Round Up

A busy spring and summer for our Petanque Section, with some notable successes for Worthing Ladies. March saw us host the Regional Ladies’ Doubles competition in support of International Women’s Day, organised by Hassi Leverett, who is the National Lead for IWO. The winners were Worthing’s own Angela Brooks and Kerry Thompson.

The May Bank Holiday was the enormously successful Worthing International Weekend of Petanque. Given the mega-strong field, with a large contingent from France, there were no podium opportunities for Worthing.

The IWD Ladies’ Triples was held at Oxshott, was won by Angela Brooks playing with Hassi Leverett and Carolyn Greenhaigh from Crondell.

Angela scored a notable success in the National Ladies’ Doubles at Ferndown, ending up as runners up after a tight final.

West Worthing Club has a become a popular venue for prestigious petanque events, and it is good to see our ladies doing so well.
