CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) UPDATE – 20 MARCH 2020

As you will by now no doubt have heard, the Government has instructed clubs and leisure premises to close from this evening, although the playing of outdoor sport is still approved and encouraged, providing social distancing is maintained.

Therefore, we are sorry to say that we have temporarily closed the Clubhouse with immediate effect, although we will continue to keep the office staffed on a reduced shift pattern for the foreseeable future (but accessible only by email or phone).

We will also be keeping the outdoor tennis courts open for so long as we can, for members only, with access via the side gate.  Please would you book online in the usual way from your phone, or by visiting the bookings page on our website. We may need to regulate the hours the courts are open in the evening to fit around staffing but we will keep you informed and this should be visible from the booking system.

All Club hosted and other group sessions will cease from tonight but members will still be able to book individual coaching lessons by emailing tenniscoaching@wwc.org.uk. or getting in touch with your usual coach.  As the Clubhouse will be closed, we will not have any lavatories, hand washing facilities or first aid available, so please bring your own hand gel and any other equipment you need.

We also hope to be able to offer some individual outdoor fitness sessions, which can be booked via squashcoaching@wwc.org.uk. and as the weather improves we hope these may be offered on the grass bays and in due course for some well spaced tennis.

I should add that the croquet lawns and petanque terrains are also available and Striders will no doubt also continue to run from our car park.

If you choose to use the courts or other outdoor facilities, please would you follow Government advice of keeping two metres /  six feet between you at all times. The LTA also recommend not changing ends during a tennis match.

This is obviously a very difficult time for us all and we are extremely grateful for your ongoing support, as we do our best to keep your Club going, our facilities maintained and our staff employed under increasingly difficult circumstances.  We are much looking forward to welcoming you all back as soon as  normal service can be resumed, by which time we should also have a brand new bar lounge to look forward to.

Best wishes
