CHAIRMAN
Web Site asks - How is your time in your role progressing?
"Since commencing as Chairman in Feb 2010 it's been a challenging time with the economic downturn and the impact this has on our members and the public at large. I have previously been a member of GC for 2 years so had a good appreciation of the issues which the club faces. It's also been helpful to have the support of other GC members, particularly the support of Haydn Smith, Vice Chairman and other unsung volunteers who contribute so much to the club.
What are the strengths and weaknesses of the club?
The club has terrific grounds and playing facilities but is still relatively unknown in the area despite celebrating it's 125th anniversary this year, so we need to do much more in raising the profile of the club and improving the diversity of our membership base, attracting people of all ages but particularly the young, and women and people from all backgrounds.
What should members expect from the club?
We have worked hard to continue to improve and invest in the facilities and fabric of the club but need to develop more sporting and fitness opportunities to grow the club. Progress has been made in improving the finances of the club and this focus will need to continue.
We continually want to hear the views of our members and staff, and involve them in what we do and the decisions we make.... therefore, please feel free to make suggestions on what we could be doing better..."
